As Director of Servo Engineering of STX Aprilis, Myoung is responsible for leading the strategic direction of the Servo engineering group, including prototyping holographic data storage drive, servo design of optical data storage devices, fabrication of media related assembly machines, and development of new related businesses opportunities.
Before STX Aprilis, Myoung was a Principal Engineer at DCE Aprilis, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dow Corning Enterprises, and was Principal Engineer at Aprilis. Prior to Aprilis, Myoung was Sr. Staff System Design Engineer for ETEC Systems, Inc., an Applied Materials Company, where he worked on fabricating a mask patterning machine. Prior to ETEC Systems, Myoung founded Amherst Applied Controls, where from 1996 through 2000 Myoung successfully implemented his own technology, DQFT, for robust servo operation in Samsung’s DVD players. Myoung also successfully completed projects for Amherst Process Instrument, Inc., Applied Light, Inc., Philips, NASA, and Daewoo heavy industry in Korea.
Myoung holds his Ph.D. in Mechanical & Industrial Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and his M.S. and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University, College Station.
