As Director of Media Engineering of STX Aprilis, Eric is responsible for advancing the performance attributes of STX Aprilis holographic materials and media technology for next generation optical storage. Before STX Aprilis, Eric was Manager of Media Engineering at DCE Aprilis, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dow Corning Enterprises. Prior to DCE Aprilis, Eric was Principal Chemist and Manager of chemistry and media development activities at Aprilis. Prior to Aprilis, Eric was at Quantum Energy Technologies, where he led an SBIR funded program on Polymer electroluminescence, and was Group leader in materials development for Li+ ion batteries with Hirion Electrochemical Inc., a Subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation. Eric also worked at the Polaroid Corporation from 1990 – 1996 in the Optical Materials Group as Senior Research Chemist. Eric is co-inventor of the CROP chemistry method for photopolymerizable holographic recording materials, and of advantageous implementations of the CROP method as well as compositions of matter.
Eric received his BS (1985) in Chemistry from St. John Fisher College (Rochester NY). After completing the course work associated with his MS at Rochester Institute of Technology, he attended University of Massachusetts (Amherst) where he received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry. Eric has co-authored several papers and has over 25 granted US patents in the area of materials development for Imaging Materials and Media, Polymer Electroluminescence, Li+ ion batteries and Holography.
